What is hookah? Hookah is a waterpipe traditionally used to smoke specially prepared flavoured tobacco. The smoke travels through the pipe and passes through water before being drawn through a hose. A hookah works by heating the prepared tobacco in a bowl at the top of the pipe. When the user inhales through the hose, air passes through the heated mixture and carries the smoke down the stem into the water-filled base. The smoke then travels through the hose to the user.
